In a recent interview with NPR, singer Barbara Streisand pointed out that Siri still pronounces her name wrong. During the interview, however, she may have dropped the final release date of iOS 10.
“I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook, and he delightfully agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name finally with the next update on September 30,” Streisand told NPR. “So let’s see if that happens because I will be thrilled.”
Siri will be much smarter in iOS 10, which will make its debut on the new iPhone next month. However, we still don’t know when Apple will release the full version of the operating system to older iPhones. If Apple does indeed announce the iPhones on September 7, as rumors have suggested, then September 30 seems a bit late. But if Tim Cook really said September 30… well, it’s hard to argue with that.
Maybe Barbara Streisand misheard? Let’s just rest easy knowing that the update, and a correction to the pronunciation of Barbara Streisand, will almost certainly land sometime next month.
