Images of what are allegedly renders for a new Galaxy S8 cases may be very revealing. Provided by MobileFun and run by SamMobile recently, the images give us a look at all angles of the alleged smartphone and show one feature we haven’t yet seen.
Indeed, the pictures suggest there’s a fourth button on board the Galaxy S8. We don’t know what it’s going to enable just yet, or if it’s even legitimate, but SamMobile suggests it could be for Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant. Bixby is supposed to be Samsung’s own artificial intelligence agent that will compete directly with Siri, Cortana, Google Assistant and Alexa. One-button access could make it easy to pull up Bixby to check a sports score, upcoming calendar appointments, set a reminder or query the weather. That sort of functionality is available on Android and iOS with a long-press of the home button.

The Galaxy S8 doesn’t appear to have a home button, however, which points to one reason why a fourth button might be necessary. It’s possible the fingerprint reader will be hidden under the display, which we’ve heard rumored before. Finally, note that there appears to be a headphone jack. Looks like Samsung might not be ditching that after all. Samsung is expected to unveil the new Galaxy S8 and, presumably, a Galaxy S8 Edge, during Mobile World Congress in February.
