Prey gets an official release date in new trailer

Hunted by aliens on an overrun space station, you know you don’t have much time left. All you can do is survive. How long can you last? Hopefully about three months. Bethesda’s science fiction thriller Prey has an official release date tacked onto the end of the latest gameplay trailer, released today.

The trailer gives us a better idea of the events that led up to the game, and up to the dire situation Morgan Yu finds him(or her)self in. As humanity is compelled to do, it experimented with alien DNA and things went horribly wrong. Yu, having new-found powers resulting from that experimentation, is the only one that can take on the alien threat.

Powers and weapons galore

This is a gameplay trailer through-and-through. After those introductory shots, we mostly see Morgan in action, using weapons to solve puzzles and take on enemies before transforming into a weapon himself. One gun he uses has him putting out fires and climbing obstacles – it looks like a multi-purpose tool that could be a lot of fun to explore.

Prey releases for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 5, 2017.
