T-Mobile is seemingly a little over a month away from adding a new iteration of the Galaxy S8 to its lineup. When Samsung announced the Galaxy S8 Active, it was made clear that the phone wouldn’t be exclusive for AT&T long-term. There was just a little confusion over whether another carrier would get the phone or it would go unlocked. Evan Blass, the popular mobile industry insider, revealed a few weeks ago that the Galaxy S8 Active would join T-Mobile.
Now we’re getting our first look at T-Mobile’s Galaxy S8 Active, which should launch next month. An image of the phone made for the magenta-colored network was leaked by Blass. It shows the front and back is identical to AT&T’s variant.

No branding from T-Mobile will be on its variant of the Galaxy S8 Active. The carrier’s logo isn’t stamped anywhere on the body. You will, however, find the T-Mobile name in the status. And there’s almost guaranteed to be a number of pre-installed apps from T-Mobile as well as third-party partners.
The differences between the Galaxy S8 Active and the Galaxy S8 are mostly noticed on the outside. Since it’s meant for durability and longevity, the Galaxy S8 Active has a body ready for anything. You can drop it and get it wet without a worry. Also, the battery in the phone is much larger than the Galaxy S8’s. Samsung raised the battery size from 3000mAh to 4000mAh. Other than those things, the Galaxy S8 Active has the same internal specifications as its sibling.
Samsung and T-Mobile are expected to announce the Galaxy S8 Active’s availability by Wednesday, November 22. That’s the date listed on the phone in the leaked image. It could be for the launch, or it could be for the release date. We’ll just have to wait and see.
