Samsung unveils new color for the Galaxy S8

by Justin Herrick | November 28, 2017

It’s never too late to spice up your flagship, so Samsung just introduced a new color the Galaxy S8. The latest choice joining the lineup is Red Burgundy. It has burgundy-colored back and sides but a black-colored front.

The phone’s back panel is still made of glass, so that’s why Red Burgundy is the name. When light hits the glass, it can look very vibrant like a traditional red. But in darker settings the burgundy really takes over.

Availability will be similar to a few of the other colors. While Samsung confirmed South Korea would get the Galaxy S8 in Red Burgundy on November 28, it’s unknown where else the new color will go. The company points out that “each market’s wireless providers and regional Samsung offices” will share details on wider distribution.

Because the year is nearing an end and a successor is on the way, it’s unlikely for Red Burgundy to make its way to North America.

Other than the color change, it’s the same Galaxy S8 everyone knows and loves. The phone features a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ (2960×1440) Super AMOLED display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835, a 12MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, a 3000mAh battery, and Android 7.0 Nougat. If you want real change, you’ll have to wait for the Galaxy S9 to be released in 2018.
