Samsung began rolling out the Android Oreo update for its Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus devices last week, but that proved to be short-lived. According to SamMobile, the company has suspended the roll out effective immediately.
The reason for Samsung’s suspension of the update is not clear at the moment, but it is unfortunate news for users anticipating Google’s latest software. The update will reportedly offer everything that’s new in Android Oreo, along with updates to Bixby and Samsung Experience 9.0, complete with new emoji.
SamMobile reports that sources close to the situation claim Samsung is working on an even newer version of Android Oreo for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. No details about what this new version will add were revealed.
We’re not privy to Samsung’s plans, but with the Galaxy S9 announcement on the horizon, the new Android Oreo update for the S8 may just add tweaks to match its newer brother. That’s a best case scenario; a worst case scenario would involve a long delay, something none of us want.
